TerpSys awarded the 2009 Corporate Volunteer Award by the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Montgomery County
Corporate Volunteer Council of Montgomery County(Rockville, Maryland) - TerpSys was awarded the 2009 Corporate Volunteer Award in the Small Business Category at the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Montgomery County’s Annual Meeting held at the North Bethesda Marriott Hotel & Conference Center. Each year the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC) of Montgomery County selects three outstanding businesses to highlight with the Corporate Volunteer Award. These three businesses — one small, one mid-size and one large — are shining examples of corporate citizenship in Montgomery County.

The following is the acceptance speech by Tim Kerns, Chair of TerpSys’ Community Service Committee and CVC Board Member:

“TerpSys has been a proud CVC member for the past few years. We have always been impressed by the caliber of award winners selected each year and we were very humbled to have to have been selected this year. We would like to thank the CVC for honoring us with this award.

In looking back over the past ten plus years of our program, it is exciting to see how our community service program has grown and evolved with us as a company. Our program would not have been successful without the constant and unwavering support of our company President, Ed Woods, our company management team, and of course our fantastic employees who are the heart and soul of the program.

We have representatives from two of our long time non-profits partners celebrating with us today - Tim Payne, Executive Director of For Love of Children and Tony Sudler, CEO of the Alzheimer's Association Capital Area Chapter. It has been an exciting journey with them over the past ten plus years, as we have partnered in various capacities.

For those of you who are just getting started or are re-engaging your volunteer programs and efforts, I'd like to leave you with this thought. In 1999, our first interaction with the Alzheimer's Association was when I decided to participate in the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk. We had four people on our team that year. Tomorrow, we are participating in our eleventh Memory Walk and are fielding a team of almost 100 members. It didn't happen overnight, but gradually over time. It was the result of educating our staff, reminding our staff of the importance being involved in the community, and perhaps, some timely nagging.

Once again, we'd like to thank the CVC for selecting us for this honor.”
